I have been trying to stay away from doing a blog on this subject, but the more and more I see things in T and movies, I have come to realize that many people actually thinks demons are cool. I once say a comment on a Facebook post on the Ghost Adventures page, and it to this day has stuck with and bothers me. The person said that “people who go after non demonic cases are sissies and should stay home.” I looked over this lady's profile, and realized that she is not in a paranormal group, and that she is a huge fan of Ghost Adventures. That's it. It got me to thinking that maybe I need to go ahead and do this blog on demonology.
Now, I am not going to go into deep detail with things. I will give the basics of things. If you, the reader, wants to know more, then research it further. There is a lot of material out there on this subject.
For this blog I will start with the beginnings of demonology. Its origins.
I do realize there are negative entities in all cultures and religions, but since I am a Christian, I will talk about demons in the Christian faith. I will save the others for future blogs.
Everyone knows the basics of how demons came into existence. We do know that God created the angels before he created the Earth, and the fall of Lucifer (Satan), happened before the tempting of Adam in the Garden of Eden. Lucifer was the top angel that God created. Lucifer means “Morning Star.” In the Book of Ezekiel, its said that Lucifer became so impressed with his own beauty, intelligence, power, and position that he began to desire for himself the honor and glory that belonged to God alone. This pride represents the actual beginning of sin in the universe. Some believe that the straw that broke the camel's back for Lucifer and other angels when God directed them to serve man. This was offensive to them because they were closer to God than man was, and had been around longer. I guess in a way they felt they were being replaced by man in some way. This started the war in Heaven, which ended with Lucifer and his followers being pushed from Heaven... and fell to the Earth. Lucifer at this time became known as Satan, which means “adversary.”
One thing I will point out is that I have noticed that in some Christian denominations, there are a lot of things that are not mentioned that are in the Holy Bible during sermons. No one ever mentions Job 1:6-12 where angels go before God, and Satan is with them. Although Satan lost his position in Heaven, he was still allowed to move back and forth between there and earth. I will also point out that he no longer had any authority in Heaven. Its funny, like in the Book of Job, once he told God what he was up to and what his plans were, God told him to leave, and he did so. This conversation shows that Satan was out to take or destroy everything God had created, including man.
Before closing this blog, I do want to answer another question. Remember, this is an opinion, but there are some sources that points to this answer as being right. I often get asked, “How many angels fell with Lucifer?” An exact number is unknown, but we do know that a third of them fell. It is believed that there were thousands.
In the next blog, I will be talk more about demonology.
